SUCCESS: We cannot guarantee success. However, our spot and stalk black bear hunts are extremely successful. Our hunters average 6-7 feet bears with prime fall hides. The black bear in this area have skulls in the 16” to 19” class. All bears in the area are black color phase only. Some have white patches on the chest.

ARRIVAL: Once you make it to Anchorage, you can rent a car at the airport and take a scenic drive north 100 miles (about 1 1/2 hour drive) through beautiful Chugach to meet up with us.

BEFORE THE HUNT: Before we go hunting we will have you shoot your gun or bow to make sure that it is still sighted in. We recommend arriving to Alaska a couple days before you hunt to be ready for your hunt. Alaska laws prohibits hunting the same day you fly in an aircraft on these type of hunts. As you can see by our hunting dates above, you will arrive at black bear camp the day before we hunt.

Experience our Black bear hunts with our remote fly out location for 7 full days of hunting in the Talkeetna Mountains for berry fat black bears. We will fly into the mountains above timberline to hunt these bears.  Elevation is about 1700 – 2200 feet.  The terrain consists of alpine moss and rocky ground above tree line with patches of alder bushes and lots of blueberry bushes. We have a lot of open areas to look over being surrounded by mountains.

We will spend our time glassing from high knolls and sides of mountains for Alaskan black bears fattening themselves for long winter hibernation. Tundra and mountain berry leaves are vivid reds, oranges, and purples. The black bears are gorging themselves on so many blueberries their noses and tongues are a blueish purple. Hunting is done simply by sitting and glassing area until bears are sighted for stalk.

CAMP: Our remote spike camp at elevation 1700 – 2200 feet above sea level where bears can be seen at a distance. These camps feature 8x8 waterproof bomb shelter tents, sleeping cots, sleeping pads, camp chairs, propane heaters and lanterns.

FOOD: We use mountain house brand foods, as well as bread, bagel, cheese, crackers, cookies, jerky, lunch meats, summer sausages, candy bars, various snacks, breakfast meals, and drink mixes.
